The Players have been in Market Weighton since 1947 and have staged one or more productions every year since then. Currently have a full programme for the next year or so. Future events can be found elsewhere on this website.

Although our actors take a bow, a great deal of work goes on literally “behind the scenes” to bring every production successfully to stage. This backstage crew is in addition to those “front of house” that ensure your comfort and safety. We also design and make the scenery and props, get sponsorship and publicity, and carry out a variety of other essential tasks.

As you may have gathered, The ‘Players are a friendly group of people with common interests – not just in entertaining audiences but also helping other local groups financially through donations. We are also committed to bringing the dramatic arts to young people in our area.

If you would like to get involved in any way with any of our future productions – or just be one of our supportive “friends” please do let us know.

Public involvement

Planned Future Events

Committed to increasing the involvement of local young people in the dramatic arts, The Market Weighton Players will shortly be announcing a series of Drama Workshops to be held in the town.

Other projects under consideration include more radio plays to be broadcast on Vixen fm.

The Players will be holding regular “Read Thru” evenings throughout the year when productions and rehearsals are not taking place. These events held in a social atmosphere are to help us identify suitable future productions.
